Western Michigan University offers a recreation program that will prepare you for recreation and leisure leadership as well as program and service development, delivery and management. In this program, you will develop professional skills and competencies that can be applied to a wide variety of settings, including parks, resorts and cruises, health and fitness centers, hospitals and health care facilities, event and expo centers, community organizations, corporations and classrooms, among others.
Beyond the classroom
WMU's recreation program provides specific academic service-learning opportunities. In addition to coursework and electives, you will be required to complete 225 hours of field experience and a 600-hour internship.
