Advertising and Promotion
Western Michigan University's advertising and promotion major attracts creative, strategically minded students and provides them with an interactive education to ensure they will have the skills necessary for success. The program focuses on hands-on learning with courses emphasizing experiential learning and portfolio-developed opportunities. Students learn by developing and planning advertising and promotion campaigns.
Beyond the classroom
Students apply what they learn in the classroom by seeking valuable internship experiences with a variety of firms located all across Michigan and the country. Advertising and promotion majors are also eligible to compete for several scholarships including the Zane Cannon Memorial Scholarship, Ronald J. Davis Biggs-Gilmore Communications Scholarship, Philip A. Long Biggs-Gilmore Communications Scholarship, Cynthia Wrazien-Hirt Endowed Memorial Advertising Scholarship, and the Advertising and Promotion Industry Advisory Board Scholarship.
Students are also encouraged to join the WMU Ad Club, where they can network with a variety of industry speakers, and gain exposure to agency tours, career-related job symposiums and other project experiences.
